Dentures

Dentures

One of the most economical ways to replace missing teeth is with dentures

Missing teeth are unsightly, they make you look older, chewing food properly becomes a chore and neighbouring teeth shift and rotate into gaps, create food traps and loss of jaw bone volume. Replacing gaps artificially can potentially solve most if not all of these problems.

Understanding dentures

What is a denture?

A denture is a removable appliance that replaces missing teeth. It is made of hard acrylic resin or a combination of hard acrylic and molded cobalt chromium.

Types of denture

Generally speaking, there are two types of dentures: partial dentures and full dentures.

  • Partial dentures are used when you still have some natural teeth. They replace a number of missing teeth and help restore function and appearance.
  • Full dentures are used when all teeth are missing. They replace all teeth in the upper or lower jaw and are suitable for patients who are completely edentulous.
